Susan Banks is a professional who has been a certified alcohol and drug abuse therapist for more than 17 years, specializing in the treatment of addicts and those who are harmed by substance abuse. Susan has been an advocate for the rights of alcoholics, minors, teens, and children for over twenty years. She is also a member of the board of directors of The National Council for Addiction Treatment and was a contributing writer for an alcoholism treatment program that was published in book form for the first time.
Susan started her career as a counselor with the local Boys & Girls Club. After this she worked with the Family Services Division of the Department of Social Service and later worked as a social worker in the Division of Aging in Birmingham, Alabama. After this she was a clinical social worker/reward manager in the Treatment Center at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was then diagnosed with cancer in her liver and subsequently had to give up her career prematurely.
