These two forms of treatment are very different. Cognitive Therapy for an individual is very personalized, because you will need to evaluate what is going on within the individual. Treatment is more difficult for people who have never had to deal with a substance abuse problem before. An alcohol and substance abuse therapist has to work with each person individually to change unhealthy behaviors, habits, and thoughts to help them get through their addictions. Both types of treatment can be very effective. When it comes to alcohol and substance abuse, you will find that a combination of both of these treatments is the best.
