Joy Rabon is a well-known drug addiction therapist who is based in Dothan, Alabama. The reasons for her selection as a drug and alcohol addiction therapist is that she has seen a lot of addicts at her center and knows what it takes to help them overcome their drug and alcohol problems. Her addiction to drugs started at the age of twelve when she was first taken in by a friend who introduced her to drugs. Over the next couple of years, she continued to take drugs on a regular basis, injecting them whenever she had the urge. At the age of sixteen, she went to live with her cousin who was also an addict but while trying to recover from her addiction, she began going to work instead of staying at home with her cousin.
After a few years away from drug addiction, Joy decided that she wanted to pursue a career in drug addiction recovery so she enrolled at Dothan’s Northern Arizona University College of Health Sciences. After earning a bachelor’s degree, she then attended law school at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. While in school, she did an internship in private practice in Pensacola, Florida where she met her husband, Richard Rabon, a fellow student. They later married and now are a proud family of three.
Once she got out of school, it was obvious that Joy needed to find a way to support herself financially while continuing her education, so she began working in a legal research firm while looking for a way to support her son. While there, she slowly began exploring the possibility of becoming a drug addiction and substance abuse therapist. She knew she wanted to do this but was unsure if she had the right credentials because she didn’t have a bachelor’s degree and didn’t even have a professional degree in a field that would qualify her for a position as a substance abuse and drug addiction therapist. But as she continued to search, she began to realize that there were many programs and institutions out there that would help her achieve what she wanted.
