William Olin Higgs Jr. Jasper AL 35501

William Olin Higgs, Jr. was born and raised in Jasper, Alabama. He received a bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and a master’s degree from the University of Utah at Salt Lake City. He then went on to serve for three years in the Air Force, including a tour of duty in the Korean War. After leaving the service, he earned a degree in social work at the University of Texas, where he earned his graduate degree in counseling.

In addition to being a substance abuse and addiction counselor, Mr. Olin is an addictionologist and psychotherapist. He serves as a lecturer and professor at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. The University of Arizona also utilizes his services to help people struggling with addictions to drugs and alcohol. Mr. Olin is also an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. His research is focused on the relationship between substance abuse/addiction and mental health.
